Agit Kabayel set for first WBC title defense
Agit Kabayel will defend his WBC heavyweight title in germany before the end of 2026.

According to the latest news, Agit Kabayel will defend his WBC heavyweight title in Germany before the end of 2026. Promoter Frank Warren hopes to announce the fight as early as next week. However, nothing has been announced yet, which means the date and venue are also still unknown.
“He’ll fight this year and defend his title in Germany, and I can’t wait to get him on because he’s a bloody good fighter. Another exciting champion. I’m looking forward to getting all these matches together where we get the unification series going”
he told Pro Boxing Fans.
After Oleksandr Usyk vacated his titles, Agit Kabayel was promoted from interim to regular world champion. He will now make his first title defense. Agit Kabayel last fought on January 10, defeating Damian Knyba in the third round. For Agit Kabayel, this world title fight would be particularly important for him to finally prove himself. He finds himself in a similar situation to Murat Gassiev. Both were named titleholders on relatively short notice and have not yet been able to truly prove themselves. The public does not yet view them as the true world champions, and now they need to prove it. The only risk is that the WBC has chosen a lower-ranked fighter to face Agit Kabayel. While this hasn’t been confirmed, if you look at the other top fighters in the division, they’re all currently busy. Moses Itauma, Frank Sánchez, Fabio Wardley, and Daniel Dubois are all engaged in other fights right now and can’t really commit to a world title fight at the moment. So we’ll have to wait and see who Agit Kabayel has to face and, above all, whether a victory would even be enough to somehow improve his standing as a world champion. If a relatively unknown fighter was chosen for this purpose, it’s best to view it with skepticism.
Personally, I think it's generally very difficult right now to make the heavyweight division fair for everyone again after a superstar like Oleksandr Usyk leaves the stage. But I hope the newly crowned world champions can pull it off, so that we'll once again have recognized world champions.
