Alex Pereira teases “big challenge” for UFC return

Former champion hints at major fight announcement

About 5 days ago, Alex Pereira made a big announcement that he would reveal in the coming days who his next opponent would be. That hasn’t happened yet, but the UFC has at least revealed something else.

He hasn’t fought since his TKO loss to Ciryl Gane. Now, Alex Pereira appears ready to return and says the UFC has a major challenge in store for him.

“It’s coming. Good news, that’s right, a big challenge. Like I told you, if I hadn’t taken risks in all my fights I wouldn’t be who I am today”

he said in his Instagram Story.

But who could it be? The most likely candidate would probably be Sergei Pavlovich. The two of them are among the hardest hitters in the UFC heavyweight division. A matchup between them would certainly be a hit with many fans. If Alex Pereira were to defeat him, he could next get a title shot against either Josh Hokit or Ciryl Gane. Finally winning a heavyweight title would be his biggest dream, as he’s determined to win three titles in three different weight classes. His first heavyweight bout didn’t go as planned, but with a challenge and a win, he could quickly climb back to the top. What do you think?

I’m curious to see what’s in store for us. I’d love to see him succeed, but to do that, he has to take it one step at a time. I do think, though, that he’ll definitely get another shot at the title. What do you guys think?
