Anik questions Steveson’s future after shocking UFC loss

How long will Gable Steveson remain in the Octagon after one of the biggest upsets in UFC history?

UFC commentator Jon Anik recently posed this question after Gable Steveson was knocked out by Sean Sharaf in just 12 seconds at UFC 331. Gable Steveson went into the bout as the heavy favorite after securing a very strong victory over Elisha Ellison in his UFC debut. Against Sean Sharaf, however, he took such a hard punch on the very first strike that he went down, suffering the first loss of his professional MMA career.

Now Anik is curious to see how Gable Steveson will handle this setback, as he’s rarely experienced anything like it before.

“Gable is now having to deal with an experience that a lot of athletes on his level just haven’t had to deal with. It’s one thing if maybe he got knocked out late in this fight. This dude got flatlined and knocked out in 12 seconds. So, how do you regroup? I still believe if Gable Steveson gets to 10 UFC fights, he’s going to realize a ton of success”

he said.

The big question, however, is whether Gable Steveson will stick around long enough to reach that point. Even before his UFC debut, many predicted that he would not reach the 10-fight mark in the UFC. Anik, too, is even more skeptical after the loss.

“I’m not sure he actually gets to 10 fights. This is an appreciable setback. So, I’m as curious as anybody to see how he responds from this, but it’s a big deal, and this is not the easiest thing from which to come back”

he said.

It'll be interesting to see how Gable Steveson handles this. After the fight, he already announced that he won't let something like this get him down, but if something like this happens again, what then?
