Arman Tsarukyan makes his case for a title shot

Arman Tsarukyan has firmly cemented his status as the No. 1 contender in the UFC lightweight division with his first-round knockout victory.

Arman Tsarukyan knocked out his opponent in the final seconds of the first round with two hard elbow strikes. With that, he should have put an end to any debate about whether he truly deserves a title shot. In the post-fight interview, he admitted that the early stages of the fight were tough, especially because Mauricio Ruffy was landing good strikes. Nevertheless, he remained convinced throughout that he would end the fight early.

“I feel great. I was looking for a finish and even the first round was kind of rough, but I knew, like, I’m going to finish him. First punches, it’s always hard to defend because both of us, we’re fresh. But Ruffy is one of the best strikers, you know, we shouldn’t forget about that”

he said.

He also said that he thinks it was the best statement he could have made. He wants that title, and he’s truly earned a shot at it now. Dana White seems to have always had some doubts in the past; the question is how he views it now. It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for him.

I think he’s really earned a title shot now. It was another dominant victory in a fight that many viewed as a title eliminator. I hope Dana sees it the same way and gives him this chance.
