Bisping questions Gaethje vs Volkanovski superfight
The former UFC champion believes Tsarukyan deserves the lightweight title shot more.

Michael Bisping mentioned in a video that he sees a lot of potential in a matchup between Justin Gaethje and Alexander Volkanovski, but at the same time believes that Arman Tsarukyan is, from a competitive standpoint, the far more deserving challenger for the lightweight title. In the video, the former UFC middleweight champion explains that a matchup between Justin Gaethje and Alexander Volkanovski would generate a lot of interest, but it would be pretty unfair to Arman Tsarukyan given his recent performance. A matchup between Alexander Volkanovski and Justin Gaethje wasn’t even on many people’s radar at first, but it could actually be interesting for the UFC since it would draw a huge amount of attention. It’s well known that Arman Tsarukyan isn’t the most popular fighter in the UFC, which is why it’s unfortunately even conceivable that they might overlook his performance and opt for the mega-fight instead. To figure out what happens next, however, the question regarding Justin Gaethje must first be resolved: whether he’ll continue at all or end his career. This is still unclear at the moment, so no further matchups can be discussed. From a competitive standpoint, as mentioned earlier, the matchup would be quite unfair to the contenders in the respective divisions. As long as Alexander Volkanovski defends his title against Movsar Evloev on October 24, one of the two titleholders would have to give up his title and move to another division for the title fight anyway. So it would be quite a major undertaking to organize the matchup; the only question is what the UFC will prioritize: the sporting aspect or the audience. What do you think?
I don't think this match will happen. I think it would be way too much work, especially since they'd have to find a new champion for the division, which one of these two would then have to come from. What do you guys think?
