can Uros Medic shine at UFC Belgrade?
Serbia's first UFC event is headlined by hometown star Uros Medic against veteran Daniel Rodriguez.
On August 1, 2026, the UFC will make history by hosting its first-ever event in Serbia. In the main event, Uros Medic and Daniel Rodriguez will face off, and for Uros Medic in particular, there’s a lot at stake. He is Serbian himself and naturally wants to make this big night in his home country a perfect one. However, he’ll be up against Daniel Rodriguez, who has earned a reputation throughout his career for spoiling the party for favorites and hometown fighters.
Uros Medic definitely needs to prevent that from happening. Especially since he’s currently the only Serbian fighter in the UFC welterweight rankings, and this fight is essentially built around him. It’s far more than just a regular fight for him. Both his emotions and his motivation are likely running high.
He’s also currently on a three-fight winning streak. All three fights ended in first-round knockouts. This also reflects the rest of his career to some extent. Uros Medic has a record of 13 wins and 3 losses. However, he won all 13 fights by knockout, and most of them in the first round. So he’s more of an offensive fighter who tries to put pressure on his opponents right from the start.
But Daniel Rodriguez shouldn’t necessarily be considered an underdog either. He has a record of 20 wins and 5 losses. Unlike Uros Medic, he relies more on his technique and stamina to wear down his opponents over multiple rounds.
And that’s exactly what makes this fight so special. Can Uros Medic end the fight early, or will Daniel Rodriguez quickly find his rhythm and use his endurance to his advantage? We’ll find out as early as Saturday!
These are two completely different fighters, each with a completely different goal in the fight. That’s why I find it so interesting, their styles are just so different. I’m really curious to see who will come out on top and win this fight. Feel free to share your thoughts on who you think will win!
