Conor Benn gains 32.4 pounds after official weigh-in
Reports claim Benn reached 178.4 pounds just ten hours later

According to some reports, Conor Benn weighed in at 178.4 pounds just ten hours after the official weigh-in for his WBC welterweight title fight against Ryan Garcia at the T-Mobile Arena, after previously weighing in at 146 pounds. If the report is accurate, he has already gained 32.4 pounds since the weigh-in, which would be absolutely unbelievable.
There’s a video clip that sparked the rumors; it was shared by Darshan Desai of Everything Boxing, and it shows the number on the scale before the camera pans to Conor Benn. Although he was fully clothed, even heavy clothing would hardly explain this difference.
Conor Benn had to severely dehydrate himself to make the welterweight limit of 147 pounds for the first time since 2022. Right after that, though, he put the weight back on because he’s actually more of a middleweight. Since the contract doesn’t include a rehydration limit, he didn’t break any rules in doing so. Such a drastic weight gain can, however, backfire. His body now has to work very hard, and he might still feel the effects of that in the ring. At the same time, though, it could give him an advantage in the early rounds, as he might come out with more power. Toward the end of the fight, he might struggle with stamina, but we won’t know for sure until then.
By the way, Ryan Garcia weighed in at 145.5 pounds, and he won’t come close to Conor Benn’s weight during the fight. This will likely allow him to maintain the speed and stamina to wear him down. What do you think? Does the weight make a significant difference?
Well, I think 32.4 pounds is pretty alarming. It could totally backfire on him. But maybe it’s just meant to intimidate, who knows. We can only guess how it’ll play out; ultimately, we won’t find out until tonight.
