Conor Benn has signed, Ryan Garcia fight edges closer

Benn’s manager says both sides are nearing an agreement, though broadcast and promotional issues still need to be resolved.

The rumors surrounding the fight between Conor Benn and Ryan Garcia are slowly taking an interesting turn. Conor Benn's manager said that he has already signed on for the fight in September, and that an official announcement is getting closer and closer.

“We’ve signed on our side. I think Ryan’s accepted it, too. I think they’re working out some issues with the networks. I don’t really want to talk about that. That’s a different area. I have my guy signed for the fight and ready to go, and I think we’ll hear some positive news in the next couple of weeks,"

Connolly, who is the manager of Conor Benn, said to Ring Magazine.

The question remains, however, regarding the broadcast platform. Golden Boy had already complained once before, since Ryan Garcia is normally supposed to fight exclusively for them. These issues still seem unresolved, but according to statements from Conor Benn’s manager, the two appear to have already reached an agreement on the sporting side of things. We haven’t heard much from Ryan Garcia about the fight so far, most of the comments have come from Conor Benn.

“I’m always there or thereabouts in shape. I stay in shape out of training. All I need is eight weeks to get ready. I need eight weeks for anyone.”

he said at the UFC 250 event. Although both fighters have considered other bouts in recent months, this one seems to be heading in a slightly more serious direction. It remains to be seen whether it will actually happen in the end.

I'd be very interested in this fight, even though I have my doubts that it will actually happen. Golden Boy doesn’t make it easy to finalize anything, so I see some complications there. However, I’m glad they’ve already reached an agreement on the sporting level, and maybe something will actually come of it. It would definitely be very interesting.
