Conor McGregor vows to return after UFC 330 defeat

McGregor has ruled out retirement after his injury loss to Max Holloway, while Holloway has already called for a trilogy fight.

After yesterday's fight between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway, there was uncertainty about what the future holds for Conor McGregor. Since Conor McGregor was unfortunately injured right away in the first round and lost the fight by TKO, many people speculated that he would now end his career. However, he has now addressed this on X and wrote the following.

“I was so sharp and so ready for this fight. I cannot believe what has happened. The talk of me being off while walking into the fight is nonsense. I was calm, ready, and confident. I am in shock at what has taken place. The devil is literally staring at me right in front of my face here. I am not engaging. I will be at church tomorrow. I will overcome this. I will not be deterred. I will return.”

So for us, that means this won’t be the last time we see him fight. Some fans also speculated that the injury had already played a role before the fight, but that doesn’t seem to have been the case. It was simply an incredibly unfortunate scenario that unfolded there. Max Holloway, however, responded with respect. In interviews and on social media, he even praised Conor McGregor. He also brought up another topic: a possible third fight between them.

“I had him weak in the knees. What can I say? At the end of the day, it is what it is. We gotta do a third. Hopefully, his injury not too crazy. I know he was saying that they wanted him back in April. I can do that. That’d be fun. I wanna actually feel this 170 weight and power that he says he has. So maybe we can do it back.”

So will we perhaps see a third fight between the two?

As long as Conor McGregor recovers well from his injury, this isn’t out of the question. It was already mentioned before the fight that Conor McGregor is scheduled to fight again on April 1, 2027, only his opponent hasn’t been determined yet. Whether it will end up being Max Holloway again remains to be seen.

I think it’s impressive that Conor McGregor isn’t giving up at this point. He’s not in a great place right now, but he’s still decided to keep going. However, I’m not convinced there should be a third fight between him and Max Holloway. I think Conor McGregor should focus on making a full recovery first so he can come back stronger.
