Dalton Smith eyes WBC defense against Puello
Dan Rafael reports the postponed WBC title fight is expected to be rescheduled in Sheffield.

According to boxing journalist Dan Rafael, Dalton Smith is set to defend his WBC light welterweight world title against Alberto Puello on October 24.
The fight was originally scheduled for June 6, but Dalton Smith was unfortunately forced to cancel it due to an injury. Now, however, the fight is set to be the main event of a Matchroom Boxing event, provided the booking is officially confirmed.
Dalton Smith has worked his way up the ranks in recent years and is now considered one of the strongest boxers in the light welterweight division. Earlier this year, he claimed the WBC world title and could now defend it for the first time.
His prospective opponent, Alberto Puello, is a former world champion and recently secured the status of mandatory challenger after consistently holding his own at the top for an extended period. However, he will have one more fight before that. On July 18, he has a warm-up fight scheduled, which is intended to prepare him perfectly.
And he definitely needs to be. The bout between Dalton Smith and Alberto Puello is considered a very significant world championship fight that is drawing a lot of attention. A victory for Dalton Smith would mean he further solidifies his position at the top, while Alberto Puello aims to reclaim the world title and hand his opponent his first defeat.
However, it is important to note that neither Matchroom Boxing nor the WBC has officially confirmed the new date. It is also possible that the fight will take place earlier, but we will have to wait for further information.
I see Dalton Smith as the favorite, but Alberto Puello is definitely no easy opponent. He has a lot of experience and knows how to fight at this level. Still, I believe Dalton Smith is the better boxer right now and can defend his title. For me, though, it will be an exciting test because Alberto Puello is going to give him a real run for his money. What do you think about that?
