Dana White denies having any issues with Tom Aspinall

Dana White has actively refuted the claim that he might not like Tom Aspinall.

This came after Tom Aspinall relinquished his UFC heavyweight title due to ongoing problems with his eye. This had already sparked some rumors that Dana might be annoyed with him. On top of that, Tom Aspinall had teamed up with Eddie Hearn, who has repeatedly criticized Tom Aspinall’s contract and the UFC’s system.

However, after the UFC 331 event, Dana felt compelled to put an end to these speculations once and for all after being asked about it. He said:

“No, that’s not the case. It’s the furthest thing from the truth. He’s going through stuff with the doctor. He knows it’s going to be a while before he comes back. This is totally normal”

He also says that many people simply don’t see the big picture but always focus on individual statements. This can lead to misunderstood statements and reactions that give the impression there’s a problem. The heavyweight title situation was a complex matter that simply drew a lot of attention. When individual statements are taken out of context, things can quickly look bad. However, White also emphasized once again at the end that there certainly isn’t a problem and that it would be obvious to everyone if there were.

I think it’s good that Dana always responds quickly to stories like this, because otherwise your words can easily be twisted. I think it’s important to maintain a good relationship with your fighters as much as possible, because otherwise you can quickly lose some of them.
