Dana White explains Basharat’s UFC release

The UFC president has explained why the organization parted ways with the previously undefeated Farid Basharat.

Despite his flawless 16-0 record and seven wins within the organization, the UFC simply let him go. The decision was quite unexpected, as he had only made minor mistakes in the Octagon; nevertheless, the UFC decided against renewing his contract.

White commented on the matter at the last press conference.

“I think that when guys’ contracts are up, and this isn’t the first time this has happened, and either guys aren’t good to deal with, and the matchmakers don’t want to deal with them, which could be turning down fights or whatever the reasoning is. If you’re 16-0 with seven wins in the UFC and don’t get re-signed, there’s definitely a reason”

he said.

With that, he clearly hinted that there must have been things going on behind the scenes that explain why Farid Basharat’s contract wasn’t renewed.

Despite this split, Farid Basharat shouldn’t have much trouble landing a new promotion given his track record. It’s still unclear exactly what’s next for him, but one thing is certain: there won’t be any UFC bouts for the time being. Fans are confident, however, that Farid Basharat will continue just as he did before.
