Dana White fires back at Sean Strickland over pay
The UFC CEO disputes the champion’s earnings claims after his latest complaints.

Dana White has responded to the strong criticism from Sean Strickland and largely dismissed it. Following Dana White’s Contender Series, the UFC CEO addressed the issues that the current middleweight champion has frequently criticized in recent days.
Sean Strickland appeared visibly dissatisfied with what he was reportedly set to receive for a title defense against Nassourdine Imavov. He even went so far as to threaten to give up the belt and switch to boxing. However, many suspect this was a strategy to build even more pressure. At least Dana has now responded, even though he initially tried to downplay the situation by asking when Sean Strickland ever stops criticizing things. He then went on to say the following:
“Sean Strickland just signed a new contract in May,” White added. “He just signed a new contract in May. He signed a new deal. Was that like, four months ago? Five months ago? He signed a new deal. And from what I hear, the number he’s putting out there… It’s not true. The number that he claimed he made is not true. It is what it is. If we were in a situation where he’d been under the same contract for a year, two years — he just signed a contract in May. He got a whole new deal in May. So, it is what it is”
That’s a pretty clear statement, and we’ll have to wait and see what Sean Strickland has to say about it. The only problem is that pay in the UFC has been criticized many times before, and it seems like nothing really substantial has ever changed. Maybe it’s about time that did, or what do you think?
I think Sean Strickland is probably exaggerating a bit, but on the other hand, so many people have already gotten worked up about the same thing. I think Dana should just make some adjustments. What do you think?
