Daniel Cormier wants Josh Hokit next for the UFC title
Daniel Cormier believes Josh Hokit deserves the next title shot

UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier thinks highly of the matchmakers’ potential decision to actually give the highly controversial Josh Hokit a shot at the title now.
After Tom Aspinall made headlines yesterday by announcing that he is relinquishing his title due to his ongoing eye injury, the question naturally arises as to who will take over that role now. It is expected that this will be Ciryl Gane, as he is the current interim champion. A title defense is expected to take place later this year. One of the possible opponents would be Josh Hokit, who has already actively challenged Ciryl Gane in the past few hours. Cormier shares this view as well. He is firmly convinced that Josh Hokit has definitely earned the fight. He said the following on his YouTube channel:
“Ciryl Gane should defend the heavyweight championship against Josh Hokit, that’s the fight. I know that Josh Hokit annoys some, he came at me, and he can be a bit…much. But I believe that if you’re moving on from Tom Aspinall right now, I believe Josh Hokit should be part of the next heavyweight title fight. His antics, fighting ability, his willingness to stand and fight the way that he fights, those reasons are why Josh Hokit should be fighting for the UFC heavyweight championship next. He will compete with him, because he isn’t afraid, and he’ll sell…”
He himself emphasizes again afterward that he knows Josh Hokit isn’t exactly popular. However, that’s exactly why he thinks the fight would be so great. It would generate a ton of interest and create a great atmosphere. Regardless of his opinion, though, the fight is relatively likely to happen anyway. What do you think, will this really be the next title fight?
I think this will be the matchup, and it’ll draw a huge audience. Josh Hokit is a very provocative guy, and I think that could end up tripping him up here. I’m excited to see what’s in store for us.
