Dave Allen plans his boxing farewell
The British heavyweight is closing in on the final chapter of his career

Dave Allen is already looking toward the end of his boxing career. The British fighter faces heavyweight Thomas Carty tonight and has revealed that this fight could likely be the second-to-last of his career. He has already fought in 38 bouts during his career but has never become a world champion. He is nonetheless quite popular among boxing fans, as he has never shied away from a challenge. Throughout his career, he has faced big names such the recently crowned IBF world champion Filip Hrgović. Ahead of his fight against Thomas Carty, he told DAZN that this will certainly be his penultimate bout.
“Yeah, I want to get to 40 and that will do me. That was always the plan. The Carty fight wasn’t the plan, then it became the plan and now we’re here. So yeah, 40 and out. Carty and one more, yeah”
he said.
In the same interview, however, he emphasized once again that he sees no reason to hold back in the ring just because his career is nearing its end. He wants to give it his all one last time and show what he’s capable of. With Thomas Carty, he definitely has another tough challenge ahead of him. The Irishman is currently doing quite well with a record of 11-1; incidentally, he’s also racked up 9 wins by knockout. So this could be another real test of his mettle for Dave Allen. What do you think, will Dave Allen cap off his career on a high note?
