Dave Allen’s 40-fight plan takes a bizarre twist

Dave Allen actually wanted to end his professional career after exactly 40 fights. That would mean that he would still have one fight left before he hangs up his gloves, since he fought his 39th fight last night. However, this fight did not have a normal ending, but instead ended in great chaos. The fight was ruled a no contest after just 82 seconds. Dave Allen hit Thomas Carty in the back of the head, and he fell through the ropes out of the ring. Since Dave Allen’s blow was considered unintentional, and at the same time it was not a knockout, the fight ultimately ended as a no contest.

Dave Allen’s coach commented on this decision after the fight and agreed with it completely, although it was clear that Dave Allen was not satisfied with it. He said:

“He’s gone to hit him in the side of the head. He’s turned his head, he’s hit him in the back of the head, and he’s fallen out of the ring. Dave can’t win on an unintentional foul, but he can’t lose either. So it’s got to be a no contest. By the rules, they’ve done the right thing”

For Dave Allen, it was still his 39th fight, even if the ending was a bit curious. That means he still has one fight left. A rematch against Thomas Carty would definitely clarify the unsatisfactory ending, but as already mentioned, Dave Allen‘s final appearance would be used for it. Against whom he will finally contest his 40th fight remains to be seen.
