Demetrious Johnson uploaded a video to YouTube in which he breaks down the fight between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, using his expertise to explain why Justin Gaethje ultimately won.

There, he praised Justin Gaethje , saying he had a wide variety of combinations and always used them perfectly whenever Ilia Topuria gave him an opening. Nevertheless, he also mentions that as long as Ilia Topuria kept the close range clean, he always had the fight well under control. But experience and willpower kept Justin Gaethje in the fight. The key factor for “Mighty” was ultimately the mid-range, which Justin Gaethje naturally exploited perfectly.
