Devin Haney finds new opponent after Stevenson talks stall
Haney will face Liam Paro in a welterweight title unification bout on December 19.

Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson, as has been mentioned several times by now, were unable to reach an agreement after lengthy negotiations, which was rather disappointing news for many. However, this has now become significantly less of a drama, as Devin Haney already has a new opponent lined up. On December 19, he’ll face Liam Paro in the ring, which promises to be a very exciting matchup.
Devin Haney last stepped into the ring about a year ago and is now hoping to add another title to his belt. Liam Paro, on the other hand, won the IBF world title with a victory over Lewis Crocker earlier this year. With a record of 28-1, he’s in pretty good shape, having suffered only one defeat. But now he has the chance to put all that behind him, as December 19 will present the biggest opportunity of his career. Even after a victory, however, the winner still has a long way to go to unify all the welterweight titles. The titles are currently held by three other fighters. Teofimo Lopez holds the WBA Super title, Jack Catterall holds the regular WBA title, and Ryan Garcia holds the WBC world championship belt.
All of this could mean that we might see a lot of interesting matchups in 2027, since all of the fighters mentioned above would certainly be interested in a unification bout. Which matchup would you most like to see?
