Henry Cejudo wants Ruffy vs Gaethje

Cejudo sees Ruffy as a potential next title challenger

UFC legend Henry Cejudo is hoping for a fight between the current UFC lightweight champion and Mauricio Ruffy. Mauricio Ruffy faces Arman Tsarukyan on Saturday, and the winner could indeed earn a title shot.

Although the odds favor Arman Tsarukyan, Mauricio Ruffy shouldn’t be completely overlooked. He packs a powerful punch and could end the fight at any moment with a well-placed strike. Henry Cejudo believes that could actually happen, and is hoping for a showdown between Mauricio Ruffy and Justin Gaethje afterward. He explained exactly that on the Pound 4 Pound podcast.

“I don’t know what the UFC’s thinking with Arman. I know it almost seems like Dana is not as fond of him as we would like for him to be and that’s just the God’s honest truth. You can hear it in interviews. But Mauricio Ruffy, I do believe that if he’s able to beat a guy like Arman Tsarukyan, I do believe that he’s next. And who wouldn’t want to see Mauricio Ruffy vs. Justin Gaethje?”

Ultimately, though, to be fair, it’s not even certain whether the winner will actually get a title shot. The final decision still rests with Dana White, and he’s always up for a surprise. At least in the case of Arman Tsarukyan, many doubt whether he’ll really get a shot at the title if he wins. Arman Tsarukyan himself has already mentioned this a few times and senses the UFC president’s doubts. It remains to be seen whether Dana will still have doubts about the winner after the fight. What do you think?

I'm really looking forward to the match, but even more so to what happens afterward. Nothing is guaranteed for either fighter, and even after the fight, there will still be a lot of unanswered questions. What do you guys think will happen?
