Ian Garry already looking ahead after Makhachev loss
Ian Machado Garry remains confident despite his UFC 330 defeat and believes the loss will only make him better.

After Ian Machado Garry’s loss to Islam Makhachev, he doesn’t seem disappointed at all and isn’t even blaming himself.
The main event ended on Saturday with a familiar scene. Islam Makhachev’s arm was raised for the 17th consecutive time, setting the longest winning streak in UFC history.
Despite the loss, Ian Machado Garry put in a strong performance. After the fight, he took to Instagram to comment on his performance and share how he feels following the bout.
“Tonight wasn't my night, I feel great, I did great, Islam was just better than me tonight and that’s OK. I want everybody who loves me and supports me and wants to see me do better, I want you to know that I’m going to be back. I'm not disheartened by this. I’m bulletproof in my mind. I’m 28 years of age, I just fought maybe the greatest fighter we’ve ever seen in this sport and I pushed him to the f*cking wire and I’m so proud of myself and I’m so proud of my team and everything that we’ve done”
said Ian Machado Garry.
It was only the second loss he’s suffered in his UFC career. His career began with a strong winning streak of 15 consecutive victories. He then lost to Shavkat Rakhmonov, but bounced back with impressive wins over Belal Muhammad and Carlos Prates, putting himself in position for a title fight.
So this isn’t a loss he can’t handle. He’s already shown that he can bounce back from a defeat like this and come back strong. Who knows what the future holds.
At the end of his social media post, he once again expressed immense respect for Islam Makhachev and his team. Ian Machado Garry showed a great deal of respect for his opponent, and many are giving him credit for that.
If he keeps this up and stays on track, it’s quite possible that his next title shot won’t be long in coming, but for now, we should wait and see who he’ll face next.
Personally, I’m convinced this won’t be Ian Machado Garry’s last title shot. I think there will likely be several more to come, since he put in a strong performance last night as well, and he gives the impression that he views the loss as a positive step in his development.
