Ian Garry claims his resume is better than Makhachev's
Ian Machado Garry believes his previous opponents were tougher than Islam Makhachev's recent competition.

Ian Machado Garry is facing what is likely the toughest test of his career when he takes on Islam Makhachev at UFC 330, at least that’s what many people think. According to Ian Machado Garry himself, he has already fought significantly better opponents. So could this fight turn out to be easier for him than everyone expects?
In an interview with ESPN MMA, Ian Machado Garry spoke about some of his previous opponents and clearly emphasized that he considers his own record to be significantly stronger than his opponent’s.
“If you look at my last five opponents versus Islam’s last five opponents, in my opinion, it’s not a discussion which were, when you look at who I fought, Belal Muhammad, Shavkat Rakhmonov, Carlos Prates, Michael Page, those four are four of the trickiest fighters on the planet. All of them present real, real danger”
said Ian Machado Garry.
He emphasizes that he has already fought at the highest level of MMA. He says himself that he will prove to the world who he is when he faces Islam Makhachev.
However, Ian Machado Garry forgot to mention that Shavkat Rakhmonov beat him. He himself believes he actually deserved to win the fight, which is why he feels that way. Statements like these naturally cause a bit of controversy among fans. But he doesn’t seem to notice the backlash he’s receiving on social media because of this. Ian Machado Garry says he’s never experienced anything negative in real life and that he’s actually only ever been treated nicely.
We’ll see on August 15 whether this attitude toward Islam Makhachev holds true and whether it helps him. These statements certainly make the fight very interesting, though.
Personally, I also find his comments to be critical. In my opinion, Islam Makhachev is the best fighter he’s ever had to face, and there’s no getting around that. I’m very curious to see how the fight will turn out.
