Ian Machado Garry vows to dismantle Islam Makhachev
Despite entering as a heavy underdog, Garry believes he will dominate the pound-for-pound king and leave Philadelphia as a two-division UFC champion.

Ian Machado Garry, who has always been respectful toward Islam Makhachev, is now announcing that he will dominate the fight.
Islam Makhachev is defending his welterweight title for the first time, and most people consider him the clear favorite. He is currently the best pound-for-pound fighter out there, but Ian Machado Garry is absolutely convinced that he will dominate Islam Makhachev and claim the title for himself.
“I have nothing but love and respect for Islam Makhachev, and the body of work that he’s done in the UFC is unbelievable. When I fight Islam Makhachev on August 15th, I’m gonna be the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, the two-weight champion. I’m gonna dismantle him, and when I do, there’s no doubt I’ll be the greatest fighter on the planet”
said Ian Machado Garry.
And even though he’s so confident, most people see him as a clear underdog. Many say that Islam Makhachev will have too strong an advantage in wrestling, as well as being generally more experienced. However, you can’t count Ian Machado Garry out. He’s taller and faster than Islam Makhachev, and on top of that, he’s very confident he’ll win.
It remains to be seen who will ultimately come out on top. If Ian Machado Garry were to win, the UFC would have the right to schedule an immediate rematch due to Islam Makhachev’s long winning streak. In the event of a clear defeat, however, an immediate rematch would be very unappealing to most.
Personally, I wouldn't count Ian Machado Garry out just yet. Sure, Islam Makhachev is the clear favorite, but it could still be a close fight. I'm looking forward to the fight, and I'm curious to see who will ultimately win.
