Iglesias calls for unification after dominant win

Osleys Iglesias won with a strong performance against his main challenger, Oliver Zaren, delivering a very dominant display over seven rounds until the fight was stopped. He thus successfully defended his IBF and IBO super middleweight world titles.

Oliver Zaren’s trainer, Mikkel Kessler, threw in the towel in the seventh round after watching his protégé take consistent hits over an extended period. Unfortunately, he was barely able to mount any offense, even though his defense didn’t look too bad at times.

Osleys Iglesias had to work harder than he has against other opponents. Instead of a typical knockout, he slowly wore his opponent down, and round by round, it became clear exactly how well the plan was working. After this strong performance, a major challenge is in order.

"I hope the winner [Canelo-Mbilli] faces me. I’d like my next fight to be a Unification“

he said.

And that’s totally justified. After passing all those tests, it’s finally time for some bigger names to appear on the schedule. Osleys Iglesias might soon have the chance at a unification bout, which could of course be very interesting. We’ll just have to wait and see what’s in store for us, but after victories like the ones he’s had in the past, he’s slowly but surely earned the right to face the big names.

I also think he’s slowly earned it. I think he should just wait out the next few weeks after the title fight between Saul Alvarez and Christian Mbilli to possibly get an answer then. What do you think?
