Iglesias to defend title against Zaren on October 8

According to American sports writer Dan Rafael, it has reportedly been confirmed that Osleys Iglesias will defend his super middleweight world title against Oliver Zaren on October 8. However, a venue has not yet been announced.

Osleys Iglesias won the vacant title on the April 9, when he stopped Pavel Silyagin in the eighth round. With a record of 15-0, including 14 KOs, he’s in a pretty strong position and has established himself as a very dangerous champion.

Oliver Zaren, on the other hand, isn’t yet a big name in boxing, but is still ranked fifth by the IBF. In June, he fought Jose Luis Navarro Jr., but that fight had to be stopped due to a severe thunderstorm.

For him, the fight against Osleys Iglesias is a major step in his career. All of his fights, except for the one against Jose Luis Navarro Jr., have taken place in his home country of Denmark. If he wins the title against Osleys Iglesias, it would be a huge step forward for him.

For Osleys Iglesias, however, the fight has been scheduled more to keep him active. The big names in the super middleweight division are currently busy with other things, for example, Christian Mbilli, who has to defend his WBC title against Saul Alvarez on October 31. If Osleys Iglesias finishes the fight against Oliver Zaren with another KO, that would be another reason to make an unification bout happen. It remains to be seen how well this will work, because you should never underestimate opponents like that.

For Oliver Zaren, this is obviously a huge opportunity that has presented itself. I think Osleys Iglesias might be underestimating the fact that even relatively unknown fighters can be dangerous in matches like this. I'm excited to see what this fight has in store for us.
