Islam Makhachev reveals how many fights he has left

Islam Makhachev recently spoke in an interview about how many fights he really has left before he hangs up his gloves.

Islam Makhachev most recently defended his UFC welterweight title against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330. With that victory, Islam Makhachev broke the record for the longest winning streak in UFC history. He now has 17 consecutive wins, but Islam Makhachev is determined to extend that streak to 20 before ending his career.

Islam Makhachev knows this is his chance to leave his mark on the UFC, as he likely won’t break any more records. Jon Jones has already set the bar high with 16 title fights, the most in UFC history. Islam Makhachev, meanwhile, has only had seven. However, he noted that he was allowed to fight for the title much later than Jon Jones. Islam Makhachev also revealed that he wants to have three more fights, but these could be very tough due to the strong challengers.

“Well, no record is unbreakable. There are fighters out there who are getting closer… They have 10 or more wins [in a row]. I don’t know… Maybe the title fights record? But it’s a hard one to beat. I had 10 fights before my first title fight, but the one who has this record fought for the title in his third or fourth UFC fight… What I know is there are very good title contenders in my division. So, I think I have at least three more very hard and exciting fights waiting for me”

he said.

Islam Makhachev also wants to fight as soon as possible now. He’s aiming to fight again before the next Ramadan, which wasn’t actually the plan originally. However, he’s set his sights on Carlos Prates for his next fight, which could be a very exciting matchup.

I actually think he could extend his winning streak even further. I think he’ll win his last three fights, and after that, he could even keep going. However, he should also know when to quit while he’s ahead and not let his career go downhill.
