Itauma’s heavyweight journey: Dubois, Hrgovic and beyond

Moses Itauma believes Frank Warren is building both British heavyweights toward a future world title unification fight.

Itauma’s heavyweight journey: Dubois, Hrgovic and beyond

Moses Itauma seems certain that a fight between him and Daniel Dubois has already been planned by boxing promoter Frank Warren, but they are waiting for the perfect moment. He expects that Frank Warren wants to make both fighters world champions first before they can face off in a multi-title bout to stage the biggest possible event.

“I don’t know if Frank’s going to be happy about this, but I think he’s going to try and get me and Dubois to collect all the belts and then unify with each other. That's the plan, and I’m happy to roll with it.”

said Moses Itauma.

Before that happens, however, Moses Itauma must first continue to prove himself. On August 29, he faces the biggest challenge of his career against Filip Hrgović. And at this pace, things will likely continue that way for him. The IBF has designated Frank Sánchez to face Moses Itauma for the vacant heavyweight title, provided he successfully completes his bout against Filip Hrgović.

So he has an exciting schedule ahead of him, and he’s well aware of that. According to his own statements, it’s all about finding the perfect moment for every fight.

“I’ve got Hrgovic, and I’m pretty sure Frank Sanchez has got an opponent lined up. We’ve all got fights, but in due time we will fight each other. I’ve got Hrgovic, and then after him you never know.”

he said.

If Moses Itauma succeeds in this difficult challenge against Filip Hrgović, he will most likely get a shot at the heavyweight title afterward. To achieve all of that, however, he has a tough road ahead of him. We’ll see how he handles it, and it all starts at the end of August.

In my opinion, Moses Itauma will achieve a lot in the future. It remains to be seen whether it will work out right the first time, and if not, the 21-year-old still has plenty of time to create new opportunities for himself. The fight against Filip Hrgović will be a real test of his mettle, and I’m very curious to see how he handles it.
