Jadier Herrera keeps calling out Shakur Stevenson

The unbeaten Cuban believes he's ready for a world title shot, but a showdown with Floyd Schofield could be the proving ground he needs.

Jadier Herrera is one of the fighters who has been steadily working his way up the ranks lately, and he has a clear goal in mind. Shakur Stevenson has been on his radar for a long time, and he keeps challenging him.

Back in February 2025, Jadier Herrera had a chance to fight for a world title. He was among the potential candidates to serve as a replacement opponent for the fight against Shakur Stevenson, but ultimately, another boxer, Josh Padley, was chosen. Josh Padley was defeated by Shakur Stevenson via TKO in the ninth round.

Jadier Herrera’s career began in 2021 with a very strong start. He won his first five fights by early stoppage, making a strong statement right from the start. His sixth opponent lasted the full ten rounds but ultimately lost decisively on points. Following that, Jadier Herrera began a new string of knockouts, stopping several opponents early.In addition, he won the vacant WBC interim title in January, and he is determined to secure the actual title.

Now he is convinced that he deserves a shot at the title. In an interview with All Facts No Opinions, he made his frustration clear.

“I want to say something, Shakur don’t run no more Bro. Don’t run no more, I’m coming for you, okay. This is boxing. I don’t give a f**k about Shakur. I don’t give a f**k about Padley. I’m here. I am 23-years-old. I have power and speed”

he said.

Shakur Stevenson did respond, but he gave no indication whatsoever that he actually intended to fight him. This could change, however, if Jadier Herrera decides to seek a bigger fight in the future to prove himself once and for all. For example, the name Floyd Schofield has come up, and a fight against him would be considered a good test of his mettle. If he were to win that fight, it might be enough to catch Shakur Stevenson’s attention.

Jadier Herrera is definitely a strong young talent with a lot of potential. Still, I think he should definitely prove himself against a bigger opponent first before setting his sights on the world title. If he passes that tough test, he’d be a really exciting contender for the future.
