Jake Paul still believes he can beat Canelo

Jake Paul has, of course, made some very bold statements again after this weekend. While he doesn’t deny that the winner, Saul Alvarez, from the big bout against Christian Mbilli is still a world-class boxer, he sees a way to beat the Mexican, even though his chances of doing so are anything but good. Saul Alvarez delivered a very strong performance on Saturday, with his opponent’s WBC title on the line. Although Christian Mbilli didn’t quite display the aggressive style he’s known for, Saul Alvarez still made it very difficult for him by repeatedly controlling the pace and not giving him any real room for hard counterpunches. Jake Paul is, of course, back in the mix after the fight, as he’s been calling for a bout with Saul Alvarez for quite some time. While he’s shown some respect, he’s still pretty confident he’ll win.

“I would have beaten Canelo, for sure. Even just watching him against Scull. He’s just washed up, inactive, doesn’t throw a lot of punches, and not very strong. What’s crazy is one of my main training partners for the last two years is the one who ‘lost’ to William Scull. He was the one who should’ve been fighting Canelo. His name is Vladimir Shishkin. He beat Scull way worse than Canelo did, and this is the guy I’ve been sparring every day for two-and-a-half years, going toe-to-toe with”

he said.

Jake Paul is currently on the verge of making his comeback after breaking his jaw in 2025. He’s reportedly set to fight on Christmas Eve this year, though it’s still unclear who his opponent will be. What do you think of his opinion about Saul Alvarez?
