Injury forces Charlo out of Mazoudier fight

Jermall Charlo’s bad luck continues

Jermall Charlo’s run of bad luck continues.

According to some reports, the former two-division world champion has had to cancel his next fight against Koen Mazoudier, which was scheduled for October 18, due to an an injury sustained in training camp.

According to Ring Magazine, José Armando Reséndiz will step in as his replacement. He now has about 10 days to prepare before facing Koen Mazoudier.

This marks yet another setback for Jermall Charlo during an already difficult phase of his career, as the 36-year-old has fought only four times in the last six years.

The two were actually supposed to face off in July in what was billed as the co-main event of the bout between Tim Tszyu and Errol Spence Jr.. However, the fight was canceled a week before the event because Jermall Charlo was unable to obtain a visa and was not allowed to enter Australia. But why has he been so inactive overall? In addition to his injury woes, there are other factors at play. In a candid interview with the New York Post, he spoke about his struggles and said:

"Depression, self-conflation, going from hot to cold really fast is shocking to you. I don’t care if you’re in the Uber, a cab, wherever; everybody is just against you. Why I felt like this, [I don’t know]. I couldn’t tell that some people weren’t against me. It was just that, at the moment, it’s the way you’re feeling, and I turned my back against pretty much the world. I just had to start getting help with it, and it made me a lot better”

This marks a tough time that Jermall Charlo is going through right now. We can only hope that things turn out better for him in the future and that he manages to climb out of this slump. Hopefully, he can really blossom again toward the end of his career and get back to where he’s supposed to be. What do you guys think?
