Khamzat Chimaev ready for UFC return anytime
The former champion says he's waiting for a fight while continuing to push for a rematch with Sean Strickland.

Khamzat Chimaev said he is ready to return at any time as soon as the UFC gives him a fight. According to him, losing his title earlier this year hasn’t changed his desire to continue fighting the top contenders.
Earlier this year, Khamzat Chimaev lost his title to Sean Strickland. Following that loss, Khamzat Chimaev adjusted his plans and considered moving up to light heavyweight to win his second title there. Since then, he has repeatedly emphasized that he wants a rematch against Sean Strickland as soon as possible.
Dana White stated a few weeks ago that the matchmakers had not yet decided who would fight for the next title. There are several contenders for Khamzat Chimaev, including Nassourdine Imavov, who claims he should be first in line.
Khamzat Chimaev, however, is really hyping up the fight. Last weekend, he mocked Sean Strickland and claimed that he was stalling the fight.
“Nothing’s changed. We’re training, waiting for Strickland to come out of his house. Whenever they give me a fight, that’s when I’ll return. [I’m ready] even today”
he said.
However, Sean Strickland has suffered a shoulder injury and is trying to manage it without surgery. He has already been spotted back in training, though he’s probably not yet at 100%.
However, if Khamzat Chimaev doesn’t get an immediate rematch and has to prove himself again first, he might face Dricus Du Plessis once more. Dricus Du Plessis still has a lot to prove himself, but he’s currently in a good position. A rematch would therefore be a good option for both of them to put themselves in contention for the title fight.
I think a rematch between Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev would be the perfect solution. A win for either fighter would give them a good shot at the title, and they’d definitely put on an exciting bout. I’m really curious to see which fights end up happening here.
