Magomed Ankalaev explains why Paulo Costa should accept

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev has once again challenged top contender Paulo Costa to a fight.

Magomed Ankalaev hasn’t fought since his knockout victory over Bogdan Guskov in July. However, he wants to return to the Octagon as soon as possible. Paulo Costa is also starting to push for his next fight, which is why Magomed Ankalaev is so eager to target him.

After Paulo Costa called on the UFC to organize the final fight of his contract, Magomed Ankalaev responded on social media and explained why this matchup makes perfect sense.

"@BorrachinhaMMA You beat me, you become a free agent and make millions. I beat you, everybody expected me to beat you anyway. You have nothing to lose. I’m your get-out-of-jail-free card. Let’s fight"

So Magomed Ankalaev has actually raised an interesting point. Paulo Costa might be the underdog in this matchup. If he pulls off an upset and wins, he’ll be a free agent with a very strong negotiating position. If he loses, he’ll simply have lost to the expected favorite. For now, though, we’ll have to wait and see if the UFC views this fight as exciting as most people do.
