McGregor eyes 170 lbs advantage vs Holloway

Returning after a five-year absence, Conor McGregor insists the 170lbs limit is a key tactical advantage as he prepares for a high-stakes rematch with Max Holloway in Las Vegas.

Conor McGregor is returning at UFC 329 after a five-year hiatus, and he’ll face Max Holloway in a highly anticipated rematch. The fight will take place in the welterweight division at 170 pounds, a weight class in which Conor McGregor has fought many times. In his latest interview, he explained his reasoning behind this decision:

“See, I have the advantage in experience at 170lbs. If I look at Holloway’s body of work in recent years, he’s been in there a lot. However, he hasn’t been at 170lbs. So that is in my favour and that is also why I done it.”

he said.

For Conor McGregor, this is a very crucial fight for his career. He’s been going through a long and very turbulent phase in his career, marked, among other things, by a serious leg injury. With a win, he hopes to get his career back on track, and for Conor McGregor, that always involves a little trash talk before the fight.

Max Holloway, however, seems completely unfazed by it.

“Weight is just a number. Real gladiators back in the day, they didn’t walk around with a scale."

replied Max Holloway.

He also emphasized that he doesn’t care what weight class he fights in; he sees himself as someone who can take on anyone. In addition, he naturally wants to put his last loss to Charles Oliveira behind him, as well as the outcome of his first fight against Conor McGregor in 2013, which he lost.

So the fight is pretty important for both sides, and we won’t have to wait much longer for it. It remains to be seen who will come out on top and win the rematch.

I don't think the weight class will be such a huge advantage here. Sure, Conor McGregor might have a little more experience, but I think Max Holloway will get the hang of it quickly. Then again, maybe I'll be surprised and the weight class will play a role after all. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
