Moses Itauma’s training camp comes under fire
Moses Itauma’s stamina issues have raised questions about his preparation after his loss to Filip Hrgović.

Moses Itauma’s training camp is now facing some criticism following his very exciting bout against Filip Hrgović, as many believe he was finished far too early.
Moses Itauma has had a pretty meteoric rise in the boxing world, and was actually hoping to make history this weekend by becoming the second-youngest heavyweight world champion. However, the much more experienced Filip Hrgović threw a wrench in his plans and won the fight in the later rounds. At the start, Moses Itauma came out very strong and kept up constant pressure. He also scored a knockdown in the second round and seemed to have the fight completely under control. The problem is that the high pressure eventually proved to be his undoing, as his stamina visibly began to wane. After Filip Hrgović weathered all of that, he also noticed that his opponent was slowing down. Then he took charge himself and landed some hard punches until the fight was stopped in the ninth round.
"He is the best I have been in the ring with, but he needs more experience," Hrgovic said. "I knew I was losing the round, but I knew that I had the pace in my favour. He needs more experience, but he is one of a kind"
Filip Hrgović said after the fight.
Those weren't exactly the words he chose, but this loss has also put Moses Itauma in the crosshairs of criticism. Former IBO world champion Chris Eubank Jr. also commented on it on X.
"Not sure what happened tonight. Moses was fighting well & then gassed out it seems… at his young age this should simply not be happening. Time to rethink his training camp moving forward I think. Congratulations to Filip Hrgović becoming the new heavyweight champ"
he wrote.
He’s not the only one facing criticism. Many have criticized his stamina or his tactics going into the fight. He simply ran out of steam too early, and that kind of thing shouldn’t happen. Especially since Moses Itauma otherwise shows no signs of athletic shortcomings, this lends some credence to the criticism regarding his training camp. Moses Itauma is considered a rising star, but that also means having a good team that prepares you perfectly for a fight, even if it goes into the later rounds. If he can fix these issues in the next training camp, it’s hard to see why he shouldn’t become the heavyweight world champion.
