Mwale retains WBC title after hard-fought draw
David Mwale keeps his WBC International bantamweight belt after an action-packed battle with Charlton Malajika ended in a draw.

WBC International Bantamweight Champion David Mwale successfully defended his title, but not with a win. He retained his title after a hard-fought draw against Charlton Malajika.
The fight, which took place in Zambia, was fiercely contested from the very first round. This continued right through to the end, making for a very exciting bout. Both boxers engaged in an open exchange of blows, and the dominant role constantly shifted back and forth. David Mwale showed just how much fighting spirit he brought to the ring.
Before the fight, he said he didn’t want to underestimate his opponent under any circumstances, and that definitely paid off. If he had gone into this fight carelessly, it might have backfired. Charlton Malajika also performed very well, however, and proved that he is a dangerous fighter.
After the full distance, the judges were unable to declare a winner and ruled the fight a draw. As a result, David Mwale retains his title.
Because of the open outcome, there may even be a rematch between the two. Both boxers performed at a high level and represented African boxing very well.
Since the draw favors David Mwale, the door remains open for him to pursue bigger fights. Whether his next opponent will be Charlton Malajika again or if something else might come up remains to be seen.
In my opinion, a rematch between the two would be a very interesting story. I think both of them showed a lot and can be satisfied with their performance. The draw is the fairest result for the fight, but I think there should be a winner, which is why a rematch would make sense.
