Paddy Pimblett has one goal: UFC lightweight gold

After submitting Benoît Saint Denis at UFC 329, Paddy Pimblett says becoming the undisputed lightweight champion is his only focus.

After his impressive victory over Benoît Saint Denis at UFC 329, UFC star Paddy Pimblett has only one thing on his mind: the world championship title.

In his fight against Benoît Saint Denis, he silenced his critics with an impressive performance. He landed a powerful choke and quickly forced Benoît Saint Denis to sleep. With this win, he’s made a clear statement that he belongs among the elite of the lightweight division.

Paddy Pimblett has already fought for the interim lightweight title once, but lost that bout to Justin Gaethje. Now, however, several opportunities are open to him again. Either it’s a rematch against Justin Gaethje, or a potential blockbuster fight against Ilia Topuria. In his interview after his last fight, he made his goal very clear once again.

“I want to be a world champion, I want to be the undisputed champion of the world. I want to be the first-ever world champion from Liverpool, and I’m going to do that. I know that’s in my destiny. I know it’s in my fate. Whether it’s the next fight or the next 10 fights, I’m going to be a world champion.

He then went on to say that he didn't care at all who he had to fight to make that goal a reality. The main thing is that he gets the chance to keep working his way up.

He also brought up an interesting problem he faces after every fight.

“Yeah, the goalposts will get moved, everyone will say, ‘Huh, BSD was sh*t anyway.’ You know what I mean? When two days ago it was, ‘BSD, he’s going to smash Paddy. His grappling is way better. He’s got too much power for him,’ this and that"

So it seems to him that people don’t take him seriously, no matter what he does. But maybe that’s actually good for him. He seems like exactly the kind of person who can use that as motivation and grow from it. The only question is when Paddy Pimblett will be able to prove it. We’ll see when his next fight is scheduled, and that’s where he could finally prove to everyone that he’s capable of achieving great things.

I definitely think Paddy Pimblett has really made a name for himself with this win. But I can't imagine he'll get a title shot right away, he'll have to be patient for a little while longer. With a performance like that, though, he's definitely made a name for himself.
