Renato Moicano plans UFC retirement

Renato Moicano plans to end his MMA career as soon as his contract with the UFC expires. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, he explains that he has only three fights left on his current contract and that he’d like to compete in a few influencer boxing matches afterward. He doubts the UFC would make him an offer good enough to make him change his mind, which suggests his retirement is already pretty much a done deal. Renato Moicano wants to do everything he can to prevent his career from taking a turn for the worse and having to accept nothing but losses. After all, something like that already happened to Tony Ferguson, who ended his career after eight consecutive losses.

“To be completely honest with you, I want to finish my contract, and once I finish my contract, I don't want to fight MMA anymore. I want to do boxing, like influencer boxing. I want to beat up people that don't know how to fight. Like this Adin Ross show… I don't want to be like Tony Ferguson. Eight fights, trying to be a champion, 40 years old, on a six-fight losing streak. I don't want that. I'm happy. Sometimes you have to realize when you're done. You have to realize how much gas you have left in the tank, how much love for the sport you have. For me, it's these three more fights. I think after these three I'm done because [the UFC] is not gonna pay me enough”

he said.

Renato Moicano’s recent fights haven’t looked so good. He’s lost three of his last four fights and is increasingly showing his weaknesses. Just on October 31, he suffered another early defeat against Tom Nolan. Whether these “influencer” fights are really a good fit for him is up to him to decide, but his fans certainly won’t approve. What do you think?
