Ryan Garcia sets clear condition for Haney rematch

Ryan Garcia is threatening to deny Devin Haney the rematch he wants if Devin Haney doesn't change his stance on the ongoing doping test scandal surrounding their April 2024 fight.

Devin Haney and his father Bill have repeatedly brought up Ryan Garcia’s positive test during discussions about the fight and in various media interviews, and that now appears to be having consequences. Ryan Garcia is now demanding that Devin Haney admit that something went wrong during the testing process. In an interview with The Ring, Ryan Garcia said:

“Until he admits that they f***** with my sh*t, or something there was going on, I’m never gonna fight him, I promise you, unless he tells the truth, I won’t ever”

That said, it’s important to note that Ryan Garcia has not yet presented any evidence that the samples were actually tampered with. As a result, his original victory was overturned and ruled a no contest, and Ryan Garcia was suspended for one year. However, Ryan Garcia doesn’t seem to care much about that. Instead, he constantly refers to a photo taken during the fight, in which Ryan Garcia sent his opponent Devin Haney to the canvas.

“It’s gonna eat you forever because that iconic picture lives on, whenever you talk sh*t, all I gotta do is post the picture of me standing over you. You gotta sit with that”

said Ryan Garcia.

The problem is that Devin Haney believes Ryan Garcia should apologize to him because of the positive test results. So it’s rather unlikely that he would do the opposite to secure a rematch. However, such a rematch would be very interesting if Ryan Garcia defeats Conor Benn on September 12. Ryan Garcia emphasizes, however, that money alone won’t be enough for him; instead, he clearly demands that Devin Haney change the story he’s been repeating about their first fight.
