Sean Strickland wants to box under Zuffa

The UFC champion is open to a boxing move

Sean Strickland just recently posted on X, announcing that he would like to compete in boxing, preferably as a Zuffa athlete.

Two days ago, he published a post that read:

"I love MMA but I want to box.. Prefer Zuffa but if they can't make that happen....."

The strange thing is that he didn’t name an opponent, a date, or a weight class. It wouldn’t be the first time a crossover like this has happened, but it’s still odd to do so without directly challenging anyone. Normally, moves like this are often made for commercial reasons, but in Sean Strickland’s case, it might actually be out of genuine interest in the sport. The only request he seems to have is that he wants to box under Zuffa. These statements also come at a time when Sean Strickland has just reclaimed his title against Khamzat Chimaev and is expected to earn huge sums in the UFC with that title. Maybe he’s actually just interested in the sport. But before we can determine that, it’s already clear that he should definitely focus on the UFC as well. His next title defense could be just around the corner. He’s expected to face Nassourdine Imavov later this year. What do you think, will Sean Strickland really make the move to boxing?

I could actually really see it happening. In the UFC, he’s known for his power, and his style is often built around fighting from a distance. He fights a lot on his feet and has already demonstrated some techniques there. I’m really curious to see what he does, I could definitely see him doing it.
