Shakur Stevenson signs with Zuffa Boxing

The undefeated champion says promotional barriers are gone and believes Zuffa will make the biggest fights in boxing happen.

Shakur Stevenson has officially signed with the Zuffa Boxing promotion, led by Dana White. With this signing, Shakur Stevenson seems confident that he has cleared the usual hurdles and can now face the biggest names in the sport without any problems.

“With this new deal, I can make any fight that I want in the sport of boxing. There's not no restrictions. It’s not no, ‘I can’t fight this guy.’ Boxing is not the same no more.”

Shakur Stevenson told Ring Magazine.

He also talks about how many critics still view the sport through an outdated lens, but according to him, that’s exactly what Zuffa wants to put an end to. Since he is currently the undefeated WBO world champion, the “best against the best” principle should work in his favor.

He went on to discuss why it’s much easier to organize major fights today.

“The business of boxing is not in the way no more, with Zuffa, with Turki backing Zuffa, it’s just so much in the sport of boxing that can get done. Any of these guys want to say they want to fight Shakur? Then sign it up. I’m ready.”

he said.

Although he didn’t want to name a specific opponent, he did say he’s willing to face any elite boxer as soon as a good opportunity arises.

The signing of Shakur Stevenson has sparked some rumors about future fights, for example him vs Gervonta Davis. It remains to be seen which big fights he’ll ultimately choose.

Personally, I always think it’s a good idea to make the big fights less complicated. But since there’s always a lot of money involved, things could also go in the wrong direction. However, Zuffa has Dana White, a very experienced man who knows the business very well. So I don’t think Zuffa would make a mistake just for the sake of money.
