Tom Aspinall ready for UFC return after eye injury

Aspinall says he has informed the UFC that he is ready to fight again and is waiting for a date.

Fans can expect that UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall will be returning to the Octagon soon.

Tom Aspinall had to take a break due to an eye injury he sustained against Ciryl Gane. The fight was immediately ruled a no contest in the first round after Ciryl Gane accidentally hit him in the eye. In the meantime, however, Tom Aspinall appears to be fully fit again and is just waiting to be matched up for a fight.

“We've let the UFC know that we're ready to go and we're just waiting for dates, we've just literally told them we can do it in Paris. We told them we can do it wherever they want. So, we're just waiting for them to let us know. It's down to the UFC.”

It’s worth noting that his relationship with the UFC has actually been a bit strained lately. Tom Aspinall was apparently very unhappy with how the UFC handled the “no contest” ruling. He then brought Eddie Hearn onto his team as an advisor, which, of course, didn’t exactly improve his relationship with UFC President Dana White.

However, things seem to have calmed down a bit now, and he’s ready to fight again. Ciryl Gane secured the interim title during his absence and is therefore considered a very strong opponent. It remains to be seen, however, when the fight will take place.

I’m really excited that Tom Aspinall is coming back, so the heavyweight division can get moving again. I hope he returns in good shape and makes a strong comeback. He should still have plenty of time to prepare.
