Usman Nurmagomedov addresses Umar’s knockout loss

Usman Nurmagomedov has commented on his reaction to his brother Umar Nurmagomedov’s knockout loss to Song Yadong.

Song Yadong knocked his opponent unconscious with an uppercut in the second round. While he continued to attack his opponent to finish the fight, Usman Nurmagomedov stormed into the cage to check on his brother. Song Yadong began celebrating, deliberately avoiding the concerned Usman Nurmagomedov, who also swung for an elbow strike but didn’t land it. Usman Nurmagomedov has now spoken out on social media and addressed the accusation that he allegedly tried to hit Song Yadong.

"People are making such a huge tragedy out of this, they should just calm down. There are things far worse. You don't have to think for long; just look at what is happening in the world. And regarding the claims that I supposedly wanted to hit his opponent, if I had wanted to, I would have hit him. You angry, petty, and jealous people. Your problem is that you have never had and never will never have an understanding of family love"

He wrote on Instagram in Russian.

As for what’s happening with his brother right now, there haven’t been any real updates yet. He might join the UFC soon, which would also go some way toward explaining Islam Makhachev’s decision to change weight classes. But we’ll just have to wait and see what actually happens, since so far it’s all just speculation. Hopefully he’s doing well and can make a quick comeback.

Personally, I think he’ll go back to the UFC. As for the statement made by his brother Usman Nurmagomedov, I’m not quite sure what to make of it. I don’t think the action itself was a good idea, and I don’t think the statement was either. On one hand, I can understand it out of brotherly love, but at the end of the day, it’s still just a sport. What do you guys think?
