Usyk’s team rejects Tyson Fury’s latest challenge

Oleksandr Usyk‘s team has now responded clearly to Tyson Fury‘s challenge and has flatly rejected it. Tyson Fury had challenged him to a bout in November after his fight against Anthony Joshua seemed to be falling through.

However, the two have already faced off in the ring twice, with the Ukrainian winning both fights on points. Tyson Fury claimed several times afterward that the judges hadn’t scored the fights fairly and therefore demanded a third bout to settle the matter once and for all. However, this claim is baseless, as Oleksandr Usyk was indeed the better fighter in both bouts.

Oleksandr Usyk‘s trainer, Sergey Lapin, made it clear, however, that Oleksandr Usyk will by no means be an option for a replacement fight.

"Usyk is not Tyson's backup plan. If Fury needs an opponent, he should visit the Ready to Fight platform. They can help him find a worthy opponent there. Oleksandr is always open to big challenges. But serious intentions are backed by a concrete offer, not statements in the press"

He told Sky Sports.

In June, Oleksandr Usyk relinquished his titles and will fight just one more bout before retiring. However, he certainly won’t take on a fight where he’s seen as just a stopgap, since that’s not his style at all. We’ll see how things play out, and above all, who will ultimately be fighting in November.
