The Dutch kickboxing star is waiting for Wilder to agree to the heavyweight bout.

Verhoeven accepts Wilder fight offer

Rico Verhoeven could already be facing his next boxing match following his rather controversial bout with Oleksandr Usyk. The Dutch kickboxer is reportedly set to face former WBC world champion Deontay Wilder.

Against Oleksandr Usyk, Rico Verhoeven put on a surprisingly strong performance and caused Oleksandr Usyk serious trouble. At the time the fight was stopped, he was even tied with the Ukrainian on two scorecards. However, the fight was stopped in the final seconds of the 11th round, and Oleksandr Usyk won the bout.

In a recent interview with TalkSport, the former kickboxer revealed that he had received an offer for a bout against Deontay Wilder and had accepted it.

“I can’t confirm just yet. What I can tell you is that they offered me the fight. They offered me Deontay Wilder. I said yes. The details need to be talked about still. But for that, I’m waiting on a response. So, if there’s a yes from the other side, it’s going to happen”

he said.

Deontay Wilder has won three of his last seven fights, which isn't exactly promising. The fact is, though, that he's still known for his tremendous punching power, which should by no means be underestimated. Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but it would definitely be a mega-fight.
