Volkov questions his path to a UFC title shot
Alexander Volkov remains frustrated after Dana White failed to give him a clear answer about his title chances.

Alexander Volkov believes that UFC CEO Dana White didn't recognize him, and is now feeling very uncertain about his path to a title fight.
Alexander Volkov asked a very surprising question at the press conference ahead of the UFC 33 event. He asked White what he would have to do to get a shot at the title. While White was answering the question, it seemed for a moment that White didn’t recognize the heavyweight at all. Of course, White denied the allegations afterward, but Alexander Volkov remains skeptical. Alexander Volkov assumes that White is confusing his name with that of the featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski. However, he also makes it clear that he doesn’t really care about that if he somehow gets the opportunity for a title fight.
“Of course he didn't recognize me. First of all, I’m a Russian fighter; I'm not even sure he can remember my name and I bet every time he hears my name, he thinks they're talking about Alexander Volkanovski. But it’s fine; there are more than 500 fighters on the roster, so he doesn’t have to recognize every fighter. But to talk seriously, he still didn't have an answer to my question. I'm asking, what should I do? What am I supposed to do to get a title fight? And they don't have an answer”
he told Ariel Helwani.
Alexander Volkov has been among the top fighters in the lightweight division for years. He might have earned a title shot, and another win against a big name in the division would really solidify his case. What do you think?
